- Fibre Slings (including knots, bends & hitches, whipping & splicing, and understanding natural & synthetic fibres and safe usage)
- Flexible Steel Wire Rope
- Chains
- Factors Effecting Safe Working Load (SWL)
- Accessories (shackles, eyebolts, inspection)
- Slinging & Handling Loads
- Cranes (including outriggers, use of charts, hazards and communications)
- Load Assessment
Content of the course covers the following elements relating to Basic Rigging operations:
- Move plant & equipment
- Erect Steel
- Work at height
- Erect and dismantle particular hoists
- Place precast concrete
- Erect safety nets and static lines
- Erect mast climbers
- Erect perimeter safety screens and shutters
- Erect cantilevered crane loading platforms
Suitability :
For persons over the age of 18. Students must also be free of any physical or medical condition that may affect the safe undertaking of Dogging and Basic Rigging work, and speak the english language to a level that would ensure safe operation in an Australian workplace.
Prerequisites :
- Prerequisite unit of competency: None
- Prerequisite High Risk Work Licence: None
Outcome :
- Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised units of competency RIIHAN208A Perform dogging and RIIHAN209A Perform basic rigging
- High Risk Work Licences class Dogging (DG) and Basic Rigging (RB). Issued by WorkSafe (WA)
