Topics covered on course :

• Basic scaffolding:
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Prefabricated scaffolds
  • Cantilevered hoists (materials only and not to exceed 500kg safe working limit)
  • Ropes
  • Gin Wheels
  • Safety nets and static lines
  • Bracket scaffold (tank and framework)
• Intermediate scaffolding:
  • Cantilevered crane loading platforms
  • Cantilevered and spurred scaffolds
  • Barrow ramps and sloping platforms
  • Scaffolds associated with perimeter safety screens and shutters
  • Mast climbers
• Advanced scaffolding:
  • Hung scaffolds (including scaffolding hanging from tubes, wire ropes or chains)
  • Suspended scaffolds

Suitability :
For persons over the age of 18. Students must also be free of any physical or medical condition that may affect the safe undertaking of Basic, Intermediate or Advanced Scaffolding work, and speak the english language to a level that would ensure safe operation in an Australian workplace.

Prerequisites :

• Prerequisite unit of competency: UEPOPS201A Comply with Occupational Health and Safety policy and procedures
• Prerequisite High Risk Work Licence Class: None

Outcome :

• Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised units of competency UEPOPS201A Comply with OH&S policy and procedures, UEPOPS215A Perform basic scaffolding, UEPOPS216A Perform intermediate scaffolding and UEPOPS303A Perform advanced scaffolding
• High Risk Work Licence class SA: Advanced Scaffolding (includes Intermediate and Basic scaffolding), issued by WorkSafe (WA)
