Enter Confined Space

Trade Skills Training offers this course as a one day on-site course. Arrangements can be made to conduct the course for companies utilising the premises of Trade Skills Training in Bentley

The aim of the course is to provide participants with an awareness of the requirements of current relevant legislation and AS2865 - 2001, relating to entry of confined spaces and control of entry to confined spaces, for the purpose of maintenance, servicing of vessels or other necessary reasons.

Pre-requisite - The pre-requisite for "Enter Confined Space" is "PMAPER200C - Perform work in accordance with issued permit". This Unit is delivered as part of the course as an integral component. Incidence response and First Aid/CPR techniques are components of the pre-requisite.

Content of the course covers the following elements relating to entering confined space:

  • Definitions and types of confined spaces
  • Hazards associated with working in a confined space
  • Before, during and after you enter a confined space
  • Hazardous gases
  • Gas testing
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Breathing apparatus
  • Rescue and First Aid

This program is useful to any worker across industry that may be exposed to confined space work. Participants need to be free of any physical or medical condition that may prohibit their usage of breathing apparatus or effect ability to enter a confined space.

Persons successfully completing the Course will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment in the National Competence Unit "PMAPER205B - Enter confined space", an imported Unit to the Mining Industry Training Package MNM05. The OH&S Unit pre-requisite is covered as part of the course itself and the Unit will be listed on the Certificate of Attainment in addition to the "Enter Confined Space" Unit.

The course is only available as On-site training although arrangements can be made to conduct the training at both PTC in Bentley if required.
