Trade Skills Training offers two courses for forklift. The first, for persons with little or no prior experience is conducted over 2 days and the second, for persons who self-identify themselves as experienced drivers of the forklift, is conducted over one day. The one day course omits some practical components associated with learning to operate a forklift. Special conditions apply to persons enrolling in the one day "experienced operators" course (Refer "Participant Information" for details). Both courses are available as public courses, or by arrangement, on-site.
The aim of both courses is to provide participants, from the mining, manufacturing or construction industries, with the knowledge, skills and understanding to effectively and safely operate industrial load moving equipment (forklift).
Content of the course covers the following learning outcomes:
Those wishing to participate in this training course will need to be at least 18 years of age, be free of any physical or medical condition that may affect the safe operation of a forklift truck.
To be successful participants must be able to use the English language to a level that would ensure safe operation in an Australian workplace.
Persons successfully completing the Course will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment in the National Competence Unit "MNMG238A - Conduct Forklift Operations" which forms a part of the Mining Industry Training Package, MNM05. They will also qualify to apply for the Worksafe WA National License Class LF to operate a Forklift in a workplace.
This course is available at both PTC in Bentley and our Trade Skills Training Centre in Midland.
