Trade Skills Training offers this course as an on-site course for companies needing to train their operators in the correct and safe use of their Overhead Cranes.
This course addresses the area of safety and efficiency in the use of overhead cranes operated by pendant or radio controlled units and excludes cabin controlled overhead travelling cranes which are covered under the requirements for "Bridge and Gantry Cranes". (See "Bridge and Gantry Cranes" for details)
Content of the course the following elements relating to operating an Overhead Crane:
Those wishing to participate in this training course will need to be at least 18 years of age, be free of any physical or medical condition that may affect the safe operation of a Crane.
To be successful participants must be able to use the English language to a level that would ensure safe operation in an Australian workplace.
Persons successfully completing the Course will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment in the National Competence Unit "MNMG236A - Operate overhead crane" from the Mining Industry Training Package, MNM05. If the equipment used for the training has four or more mechanical movements they will also qualify to apply for the Worksafe WA National License Class OHC to operate overhead cranes in a workplace.
(Note: Overhead Cranes with four or more mechanical motions require a Worksafe WA Licensed person to operate.)
